The Brink of Dreams (2024) is a drama that tells the story of a group of Coptic girls in a remote village in southern Egypt

Scenario

This documentary follows the lives of a group of young Egyptian girls from a small, very conservative village in Upper Egypt who formed an all-female theater group despite their family’s rejection.

These girls challenge the traditional roles imposed on them by forming an all-female street theater group

Through their provocative performances, they dream of becoming actresses, dancers and singers, thus confronting their families and villagers with difficult questions about child marriage, domestic violence and patriarchy in their conservative society.

They face the expectations of their community and the harsh realities of arranged marriages and traditional women’s roles

Despite the social pressures and prejudices they face, pursuing their dreams is a testament to their courage and determination to follow their own path.

The film is scheduled for release in May 2024
